My name is Nichol Shelhamer. I lost 25 pounds through Weigh Down and have kept it off since 2009!
I first learned about Weigh Down in 2005 after my daughter was born. I had lost most of the pregnancy weight fairly quickly so I didn't feel I "needed" Weigh Down. However, the weight slowly started to come back on. In November 2007 I had a baby boy born 4 weeks early. That was early enough for him to need a 12 day stay in the NICU. I was so scared and cried out to God to save my baby. God was so sweet to let me live within blocks of a Weigh Down Regional Representative who was so sweet and exactly what I needed at that time! She was and remains a dear friend of mine. She shared her story with me and shared scripture with me like no one else ever had. She said it was all God and credited the teaching coming through Gwen Shamblin in Weigh Down and at Remnant Fellowship Church. I had to find out more!!!
I didn't even know it back then, but the answer I was looking for was God! Repentance from idols, trust and obey, get a personal relationship with the One GOD and creator of all - - Weigh Down taught me how to do all thist! I lost all my pregnancy weight fairly quickly; however, because this time I was applying the principles of Weigh Down, I continued to lose 15 more pounds, all while nursing my baby!!
The teachings of Weigh Down helped me to see the Bible in a whole new light! For the first time in my life, I could understand what God wanted from me. Weigh Down has been a big influence on my life, I pray all the time now! I am happier and more thankful. Who knew that through giving up my own worldly desires to search for God's Will would have me so well cared for! Now I am a better wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend - Person!! And, my husband who is much happier with his "new" wife would say I'm not a spoiled-princess anymore!!! Praise God!
Learning to trust and obey God has been so freeing! I no longer have guilt when I eat cake with my coffee for breakfast because it's done in Gods boundaries of hunger and fullness! God has provided me, a stay at home mom, with income exactly when our family has needed it. Relieving us of more than $30,000 of debt and paying off both of our cars earlier than the loan stated. Our children are sweet and also learning how to look to God first in all situations.
This relationship with God started with repentance and has grown through love and obedience to His commands! Come find this relationship! Its worth so much more than any minute of selfish indulgence!
The Regional Rep that helped me back then in 2007 during my heavy testing time was the sweetest person I had ever met! I wanted someone to be able to say the same about me someday. Because back then I was rude, prideful, selfish, controlling, anxious, desperate and with out answers. I knew after hearing her story I not only needed to change but I could change! Today, I am humbled to be offered a chance to encourage you as a Regional Rep for Minnesota and South Dakota! What an honor! I am looking forward to serving and helping others find this relationship with God that I have found since applying the teachings of this ministry!
